Today I am happy to announce the passage of the six consequential legislative amendments to ensure Papua LNG has the full support of law for it to get off the ground.
I place my appreciation to our development partners in Total, ExxonMobil and Oil Search for your patience as we processed the laws to ensure overall congruence to the spirit of our National Constitution.
I thank our development partners and we look forward to working with our investors to progress Papua LNG.
I am comforted to know that despite COVID-19 and global economic contractions, our investors have assured me of their firm commitment to Papua LNG
A high-level delegation of TOTAL officials will be visiting the country to work with Government and all its partners in progressing to the Papua LNG Project .
I would like to also thank ExxonMobil and Oil Search for tolerance to my Government’s quest to secure better and fairer project agreements for the country.
We still have in our radar, negotiations to progress P’Nyang and Pasca and our other stranded resources.
We will work with our investors who hold interest over these resources so similar support will be rendered to ensure these resources are harvested profitably.
Whilst I am a hard negotiator trying to win greater benefitsfor my country, I am also a fair leader and will ensure companies do make a fair return on their investments.
