PM Marape visit National Fisheries Authority

Picture Story: Prime Minister James Marape visited the National Fisheries Authority today. During his visit he met with staff of the agency and had a meeting with the Executive Management of the Authority. In the meeting, the Executive Management made a presentation of what the Vessel Day Scheme (VDS) was and pointed at that through the VDS, they can also look at working out benefit sharing like the mining and petroleum projects, for maritime provinces. This concept ideas are captured in the recently endorsed National Fisheries Strategic Plan 2021-2030.
Prime Minister Marape then encouraged them to continue to look into how VDS can benefit maritime provinces and he looks forward to seeing a report from them.
He said, like his assurance to the Ihu Special Economic Zone project, Government will support this concept idea through sound supportive policies.
