Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, MP, and spouse, Mrs Rachel Marape, who is also Patron of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant Papua New Guinea, attended the crowning of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant last night in Port Moresby.

Entrants for this year’s pageant came from 12 Island Nations in the Great Blue Pacific; Papua New Guinea, Samoa, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Tuvalu and Wallis & Futuna

The Miss Pacific Islands Pageant was established in 1987 by the Government of Samoa.

The pageant recognises that women have the ability to advance in diverse fields and also contribute towards regional affairs.

Contestants are also tourism and cultural ambassadors of their country and the Pacific Region.
