Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has today congratulated India Prime Minister Hon. Narendra Modi on his re-election to office.
Prime Minister Marape said he was pleased to learn of Prime Minister Modi’s return as it is under their respective terms in office that the Papua New Guinea-India relation is being elevated to a new height.
With the win, Prime Minister Modi will serve a third term in office after the National Democratic Alliance Coalition headed by his ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 293 seats in a 543-seat Indian Parliament. (Majority needed is 272; BJP itself won 240 seats)
“I am pleased to hear of this news and sent my heartiest congratulations and well wishes to my friend, Prime Minister Modi on his re-election victory.
“It is under both our terms in office that the Papua New Guinea – India relationship is being elevated.
“I look forward to continuing this collaboration with Prime Minister Modi and the great nation of India for our two countries mutual benefit,” said PM Marape.
