Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has today congratulated new British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on his election victory.

“On behalf of the Government and People of Papua New Guinea, I congratulate Prime Minister-elect, Hon. Sir Keir Starmer, on his election as Prime Minister, as I congratulate Labour Party on its victory.

“Papua New Guinea remains a loyal friend of Britain and a committed member of the Commonwealth of Nations, and I look forward to continuing this long partnership between our two nations with Prime Minister Starmer into the future.

“I also take the time to thank former Prime Minister Hon. Rishi Sunak for his leadership and wish him well in his future endeavours, ” said Prime Minister Marape.
