Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has expressed his deepest sympathies and strong condemnation following the horrific terrorist attack in Kashmir, which has resulted in the loss of numerous innocent lives.
“I am profoundly saddened by the tragic events in Kashmir and wish to extend, on behalf of the Government and people of Papua New Guinea, our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and to the people of the Republic of India,” Prime Minister Marape said.
“This act of terror is a stark reminder of the cruel and indiscriminate nature of extremism. We condemn this barbaric violence in the strongest terms possible and stand united with the Indian people in mourning the lives lost.”
Prime Minister Marape emphasised Papua New Guinea’s unwavering stance against terrorism, stating that no grievance can ever justify the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians.
“We join the international community in calling for peace and justice, and we offer our full solidarity to the Government of India as it seeks to bring those responsible to account. In this time of grief, our thoughts, prayers, and support go to every Indian family affected.”
The Prime Minister added that Papua New Guinea, as a democratic and peace-loving nation, shares India’s sorrow and reiterates the need for continued international cooperation to defeat terrorism in all its forms.
“May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace. May those who mourn find comfort, and may peace prevail over violence,” he concluded.
