PM MARAPE COMMENDS DEFENCE FORCE PERSONNEL FOR PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT IN HANDLING PAY ISSUE

Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has commended personnel of Department of Defence for the professional manner in which they are handling the issue of their affected salaries.

He said, “I want to convey my highest commendations to them for their response in respecting the Rule of Law and administrative processes.

“Some of these people endured hardships last Wednesday when what was scheduled to be the upgrade of their salary was not implanted due to slow data input by Department of Defence.

“But these members of our defence force showed how it should be done in respect to personal emoluments, salaries and administrative matters.

“Sometimes, the system does not calculate things as quickly as we would want and administrative results are delayed.

“In these instances, we do not have to resort to lawlessness as certain members of the Police have done on January 10.

“I want to offer my highest commendations to members of PNG Defence Force for their absolute compliance to the Rule of Law and allowing administrative services to take place.

“Government has given the assurance that a special pay will be run made and as I speak today, a special pay run is being made for them. I give them my highest commendations,” said PM Marape.
